How to deal with mother in law who has self pity about us and our son living far away, and won't let up, ever?
Q. I have made it known to her that I can't imagine how hard it must be for her son to be far away and not in her life. But there's nothing we can do about that but visit as often as we can. We just had our first baby last year. Making it even harder for her. We moved 18 hours away from her and his family, to start a new life where my family and I lived. After trying our lives for 3 years, in my husbands hometown. I was depressed and lonely without my family. Brothers and sisters who are my bests friends. My husband's family were awful to me. Grandpa tried to seduce me (I was 18, and he knew I was a virgin bride to my husband and thought naive enough to fall for this) The family didn't take well to me once my husband and I told them all. Now… [cont.]

Father lied about Will to Manipulate us--I enabled it! How to make amends...?
Q. Where to start and end, I cannot give all details I would be writing a book. I am the middle child of three, my youngest sibling is 38 and oldest 44, my Dad deceased he was 73 and it was no surprise, he was a retired maintenance man at a US Steel, he made decent wages and growing up he was what you would call a penny pincher, he owns three different properties and all owned outright, the farm itself can easily sell for $300K even in this economy, easily a million dollars in real estate and to our surprise 400 grand in the bank through various investments, savings, bonds, etc., we were all shocked at the amount he had, of course my mother and youngest sibling knew all along. After we all went to college and got married things at home… [cont.]

Q. what kind of friend after you apologize to them for something goes to one of their friends, and starts bring up what you did and telling them that you tried talking, apologizing to them, and specific things that you said. This is what one of my friends did. She told her friend, oh you won't believe what ___ said to me etc and even talked about me online. Is she still upset or what? Sometimes it makes me wonder if we were ever really friends at all

Who do I contact to complain about the US Army NOT helping my son with his injured knee?
Q. My son is in the Army and has been on profile for almost a year now. First they said "growing pains", then "miniscus problems...torn..then deteriorated, then discoid miniscus", then..."arthritis" and was told he had "the knee of an 80 year old man who had been airborn for over 30 years." NOW, they are saying he has Retropatellar Pain Syndrome - also known as Patellofemoral Syndrome and Patellar Tendonitis/Jumper's Knee. =( He has been through x-rays, MRI's, medications, physical therapy, braces, injections, has boots special made to fit...nothing helps and it is now causing him back pain as well. The Army doctors are telling him there is nothing they can do - he'll have to live with the pain and… [cont.]

How are medical costs covered by car insurance companies to crash victims in the US?
Q. I am a Canadian planning on a trip to the US, probably for about two weeks. I am healthy and do not have any concerns except about getting hit by a car. The problem is I don't have enough money even for basic travel health insurance (usually at least $25 a day cost). Now if a person gets hit by a car who is uninsured, and the driver is at fault, would the driver's insurance company pay those costs? Are all drivers required to have insurance?

Why didn't anybody say anything about the usa patriot act when?
Q. it was signed into law by George Bush and later reauthorized by Barack Obama, except for Ron Paul? Is that why they don't want him to win? Because he cares about us - the people - who are supposed to be in charge of this country? Someone gave me some $hit over why I didn't speak up about the Patriot Act. I actually did, and voted for Ron Paul in 2008 so it just goes to show you that not all conservatives are neocons.

A. Plenty of people did. We were ignored or just paid lip service by most politicians, and then we gave up and moved on to arguing over stem cells, oil pipelines, or whatever issue of the day was laid out for us to squabble over.

what does the US NAVY say about abandoning ship?
Q. in light of the Italian cruise disaster where the captain is in trouble for abandoning ship if a US Navy captain abandons ship BEFORE everyone else, would he get in trouble??
Asked by - Mon Jan 16 16:25:53 2012 - Military - 6 Answers - Comments
A. If a civilian captain gets arrested for abandoning ship then of course, a naval captain would be in trouble too. Court martial, possible discharge. It's serious business, abandoning ship.
